How Baccarat Works

Baccarat is a card game that can trace its roots from Europe. The word means zero. Like any other casino games, baccarat has its own beginning. While a lot of people think that baccarat came from Italy, there are also people who think that it came from France. Back then, the normal cards that are used to play baccarat are not available so Tarot cards are use to play the game. It became a favorite game by the aristocrats and was renamed Chemin de Fer.

The game then spread to England and then to the United States. There are four types of baccarat, the Chemin de Fer, the European Baccarat, the Baccarat Banque and the American Baccarat. The American Baccarat is the combination of the elements that formed Chemin de Fer and European Baccarat. Players can also choose to play on the mini table or the normal baccarat table.

The two types of table are different in size, the number of players that it can accommodate and the features that are in the layout of each table. Ace cards are valued as one, ten card and face card has a zero value. Suits are also not important. The face value of the cards is added up and then the first number is disregard. So a card total of thirteen will be counted as three because the first digit will be disregard.

Baccarat is also considered as a game of luck. Players can wager on the player hand, banker hand and the tie hand. The best step that players can do in the game is to review the odds that are against them. The banker hand has 1.01 percent casino edge, the player hand has 1.29 percent casino edge and the tie hand has 15.75 percent casino edge.

The number of card decks that are used in the game also affects a player's chances in winning the game. In American baccarat, about six to eight card decks are used in the game. There are three dealers that managed the game. The head dealer is called the croupier.

The casino dealer handles the mixing of the cards while placing the cards in the shoe and giving cards to the players is the responsibility of the croupier. If the first player is not interested in dealing, the shoe can be passed to the next player in a counterclockwise direction.

Player will have to wager before the start of each hand. The croupier then deals four cards in a face down position. The one who have made the biggest wager in the player hand gets the first opportunity to see it. If there is 8 or nine natural card on any of the hand, the player wins the game.
